Meet Edmund Cleofe who plays Flute in our upcoming production of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM with Shakespeare in the Hills. We asked Edmund a few questions about his work and his life.

How is this character like you? Different?
I feel that my character is like me in the sense that he is a team player and doesn’t want to let the people down, despite ignoring the personal preference. I definitely feel that my character is different from me in the sense is that he is very negative, and just has a disdain for life.

What do you love about this character?
I love his blatant honesty, he really isn’t afraid to show his emotions, and true feelings.

Besides yourself, what celebrity would you like to see tackle this character?
I would really like to see Hugh Jackman take on this character.

If you could play any other character in this show, who would it be?
If I could play any other character I think I would want to play Nicholas Bottom.

What do you want to be when you grow up?
I want to be a global citizen who makes his living by writing stories on planes, and trains.

If someone was going to make your life into a movie, who would play you?
I think Dwayne The Rock Johnson playing me would be an interesting if anything.

When did you first perform?
I think my first stage experience was when I was in Kindergarten, in Utah for a Christmas Pageant.

Who do you look up to (as an actor/director/etc.)?
I definitely look up to Tom Hanks as an actor.

What’s your perfect Sunday afternoon look like?
A hike, a seafood lunch, and a camera in hand.

What do you do when you’re not doing theatre?
Taking pictures, training, and writing.

If you had a magic wand, what show would you do next?
Aladdin

What’s the last thing you do before you step out on stage / the curtain goes up?
Close my eyes, and take one deep breath.
