ASHLEY WOODS plays Antonia in Twelfth Night

Describe the character you play in 3 sentences or less.
A pirate who is in love with the wrong person. (That sounds like the logline for some indie romcom starring Scarlet Johansen, but it’s legit, I promise.)

What similarities do you share with your characters?
Everyone is getting married except for me.

How are you different from your characters?
I’m too poor to own a boat.

Why do you feel Shakespeare’s plays are still relevant today?
Shakespeare was the sensation of his day, often capturing audiences for hours and hours at a time. He had a keen sense of plot and story. With the right director and actors, an audience can be just as engaged today.

Why do you enjoy performing Shakespeare?
The words leap off the page for me. They are so vibrant and colorful. I want to bring that vibrancy to the audience, who might not have necessarily seen it when they first read Shakespeare in English class.

What professional actor do you admire and why?
Steve Carrell. I think he’s a perfect Everyman.

If acting is not your day job, what is?
Starving…just kidding. I deliver groceries.

Describe your perfect Sunday afternoon.
Going to LAX with only a carry-on and boarding a plane to who knows where.

Call out someone who MUST see your show!
Mark Rylance.
