Nancy Higley plays Lady Macduff in MACBETH and Fabian in TWELFTH NIGHT.

Why do you enjoy performing Shakespeare?
I enjoy performing Shakespeare because it’s challenging to speak the language. When my son acted in his first Shakespeare show, Much Ado About Nothing with OTE, I loved it and was inspired to audition for the next production, Taming of the Shrew. Now I’m a big fan of the Bard!

Describe the characters you play in 3 sentences or less.
I am in two Shakespeare productions, Twelfth Night where I play Fabian who enjoys playing pranks with Master Toby. I’m also in Macbeth playing the role of Lady Macduff.

What similarities do you share with your characters?
Fabian and I are similar because we both enjoy being playful and practical jokes are always fun as long as nobody gets hurt! Lady Macduff is a protective mother, something that comes natural to me!

Why do you feel Shakespeare’s plays are still relevant today?
Shakespeare’s plays are relevant today because William Shakespeare reveals the absurdity of human nature and human emotion spoken in beautiful poetic words that everybody today can still relate to.

If acting is not your day job, what is?
My day job is teaching fitness. I’m a Pilates teacher by day and an actress by night!!

Performance Bio for Nancy Higley:
Nancy Higley is thrilled to be performing with OTE’s Shakespeare in the Hills for her third year. She has been performing all of her life, from starring in her own aerobic network tv show, to portraying Peter Pan at Disneyland, and dancing onstage and now Shakespeare! Past roles include Stepmother in Into the Woods, Quince in a Midsummer Night’s Dream and Merchant in Taming of the Shrew. She is so excited and proud to be performing alongside her kids onstage.
