Nicholas Thurkettle plays Dr. Eldridge Arvidson in EARBUD THEATER: INVASION

Describe the character you play.
I play Dr. Eldridge Arvidsen, Director of Community Relations for the Earbud Lab. Effectively I “host” the evening; but my character gets to experience a few extra surprises along the way, which you would expect working in a Lab dedicated to Mad Science. 🙂

What similarities do you share with your character?
I’m excited to share stories with people, and I’m more than a little odd.
How are you different from your character?
Dr. Arvidsen has a snappier wardrobe. And I think he is a bit more reckless when it comes to the dangerous possibilities of dabbling in Mad Science.
What professional actor do you admire and why?
Steve Carell is quietly assembling one of the best bodies of work in this generation; I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say he’s hitting that Jack Lemmon level of moving comfortably between comedy and drama with consistency of detail and vulnerability in his work. As I’ve done more on-camera acting in recent years, he’s one I’m really studying.

If acting is not your day job, what is?
My primary income comes from my position at Arts Orange County, the county’s official non-profit advisory and advocacy group for arts and cultural events and organizations in the area. It’s like being employed at the Jedi Council for creative stuff. I also bring in income from various writing and acting gigs.

Describe your perfect Sunday afternoon.
A walk out in nature with my camera; building up an appetite for a big dinner with great friends.
