Alyssa Elder plays the roles of Perla Labat and Dr. Calderwood in EARBUD THEATER: ESCAPE!

What do you love about one of the characters you play?
I love Perla’s almost monomaniac fixation to science, as well as her passion and enthusiasm.  I also love that she is intelligent and is always armed with sharp witticisms.

Without giving anything away, what’s your favorite line of dialogue?
“SLEEP!”

What’s challenging about bringing this script to life?
Finding a way to connect with the other characters and bringing everything to life primarily through the voice.  It relies less on conveying the performance through the actors face, and more with connecting through the voice. It is challenging and surprisingly freeing.

What’s going to surprise people about this show?
The dualism of heart and hilarity.

If you had a magic wand, what show would you do next?
Romeo and Juliet or Cymbeline.

What’s the last thing you do before you step out on stage?
Breath, stave off potential cardiac arrest, and momentarily forget all my lines. And probably empty my bladder. Preferably before I just step out on stage.  Otherwise, that’d be inconvenient.

Call someone out by name: who must come see this production?
CASEY MORIARTY you have been summoned!

Alyssa Elder is excited to join the amazing cast and crew for Earbud Theater, bringing science-fiction radio shows to life. After taking a short hiatus to work on producing, writing, and acting in her own short sci-fi film, she is happy to back on stage.  She has had the privilege of performing in various productions in theater, film, and voice over acting.  She is grateful for her friends and family who have supported her over the years, despite her persistently annoying tendency to interrogate them after the show in an effort to bolster her fragile acting ego.  Tonight will be no exception.  Some of her favorite roles include Mrs. Martin in Ionesco’s “Bald Soprano” and Darcy in the original One-Act “A New Year Me”.  She hopes to continue working with the talented people of Earbud Theater and On The Edge Theatre Productions.
