What’s going to surprise people about this show?
I think people are going to be most surprised that this is not your average fairy tale- just when you think it’s “happily ever after,” your past catches up with you. There’s a lot of deep messages in this show so keep your eyes open!

Call someone out by name: who must come see this production?
I would say my mom and sister, but this time I have the honor of performing alongside them in this show!

How is this character like you? Different?
Well I’m not exactly royalty… or tall… But I have wonderful flowing hair like a prince so that’s fun. And I’m secretly a raging ego maniac… Shh don’t tell anyone….

What do you love about this character?
I love the songs. They’re so much fun to play around with, and there’s so much you can do with a character like this. He’s larger than life and full of confident energy!

What do you hate about this character?
He did not stay by Rapunzel’s side when she needed him most, which shows how shallow he really is. He should have stayed with his wife and children instead of running away to find the next girl. “Ah well, back to my wife!” Not cool bro. Not cool.

If you could play any other character in this show, who would it be?
When I’m a little older I would love to tackle the role of The Baker.

When did you first perform?
My sophomore year in high school in Carrie the Musical as Tommy Ross.

Besides this one, what’s your favorite stage show?
Little Shop of Horrors will always have a special place in my heart.

Who do you look up to (as an actor/director/etc.)?
Our extremely talented and supportive director, Aurora! Her concepts and ideas always get me excited, and her directing is so very inspiring!

What’s your perfect Sunday afternoon look like?
Sleeping in, going on a run, and perhaps a book in the park. Or even better, acting in a sunday matinee show! If I’m on stage, it’s always a good day to me.

What do you do when you’re not doing theatre?
More theatre! What’s a social life?

If you had a magic wand, what show would you do next?
Hamlet.

What’s the last thing you do before you step out on stage?
Wish as many people as possible to break a leg, and say a quiet thank you to the universe for giving me another incredible opportunity to act alongside my close friends and family in a beautiful production! And of course running lines in my head.

Christopher Diem: This is Christopher’s 5th production with On the Edge Theatre and is thrilled to be once again on stage with his close friends and family. He has been in shows like Little Shop of Horrors as Seymour, A Midsummer Night’s Dream as Puck, Seussical the Musical as the Cat, and more. He would like to thank his family for always supporting him, and the whole cast and crew for just being themselves which is kind and loving and just awesome! Enjoy the show! “The harder to get, the better to have!”
